  • Memsie Stakes Day Return for Ayrton

    Tuesday, 10th August 2021

High expectancy surrounds boom horse Ayrton’s comeback to competition on Gr1 Memsie Stakes dDay. Following his cruising effort on Monday morning, the 4YO’s co-trainer Mick Price said that the trial effort on a heavy surface was just a rehearsal ahead of a spring carnival that bodes very well. According to racing.com, Price said: The horse was under strict instructions from J. Kah not to get off the bridle and the jockey was under instructions from the trainer not to get off the bridle,” adding after the trial: Weve got a little plan happening and this track is heavy so we didnt need to do anything stupid there and we were always going to trial up on the bridle. After winning four of his first five races, and consequently viewed as one of the most promising horses in Australia, Ayrton has been posted favorite for the $7.5 million Golden Eagle at Rosehill in late October. Price’s intention is for Ayrton to resume on 28 August over the same course and distance as the $1 million Memsie Stakes, and said, “Hell trial again in two weekstime (at Caulfield) so well wait until [17 August) and have a course proper trial and then… I am thinking we will run in a 1400-metre handicap. She (Jamie Kah) said he was good and handled that ground under a hold, but whether he does under race conditions is another matter.
