  • Hinged a Worthy Cause at Doomben

    Thursday, 22nd July 2021

On a terrific looking program of Brisbane winter racing at Doomben on Saturday, exciting 2YO filly Hinged (Worthy Cause-Tints, by Tycoon Ruler) appears a strong chance to get theirs for yours before midday. Engaged in the opening event, Hinged starts in her seventh race, having won four of them and finishing runner-up in the other two, so certainly knows how to find the line. Trained by leading mentor Michael Nolan, she’s a first-crop daughter of Clear Mountain Fairview’s potential-laden young stallion Worthy Cause (Choisir-Tahnee Tango, by Grand Lodge) whose first crop has made a bright start. Out of a mare bred by Clear Mountain Fairview’s principals, the Frappells, $2 favourite Hinged won her most recent start at Doomben (1350m) where she was headed in the last 200m before fighting back to pull clear. Drawn 6 in a small field of 8, and with a 3kg claim, she has been the market mover for the mile event since declarations. With Worthy Cause boasting four winners already of seven races that could soon be eight, Hinged’s QTIS bonus should she salute would take her earnings beyond $250,000 for owner Dr Kim McKasker, a retired dentist. It could also seal Worthy Cause’s claim for Queensland’s First Season Sire title.
