Having recently taken over the training of quality Perth galloper Red Can Man (Gingerbread Man-Brocky’s Ace, by Surtee), Victoria’s Mornington-based David Brideoake is confident of another victory. Not disgraced in his first Melbourne start for the stable, former Steve Wolfe-trained Red Can Man clicked into a higher gear to win the Gr3 Monash Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield recently and is primed to lift again in Saturday’s Gr3 Bletchingly Stakes (1200m) at the same course. According to rwwa.com.au, Brideoake told The Races WA, “The horse is in good shape and this is weight for age, so he’s actually quite favourably treated at the weights. [It’s] his third run in and I like third run in.” Winner of Perth’s Fairetha Stakes (1400m) and the Belmont Sprint (1200m), Red Can Man is heading towards the Gr1 Memsie Stakes, however on Saturday he will be without the services of Ben Melham who is serving a suspension.
