Only the very last day of the 2020-21 racing season on 31 July has less black-type racing in Australia than this Saturday. There are two lone stakes races across the country, one in each of Adelaide and Perth. Morphettville’s Oaklands Stakes looks a three-way tussle between spruik horse Bleriot (Divine Prophet), Spendthrift Australia’s Mac ‘N’ Cheese (Sebring) and Godolphin’s Stalking (Animal Kingdom). The Belmont Classic sees gun Blackfriars 3YO Tena Koutou concede 2kg to last start stakes-winner Chili Is Hot (Gingerbread Man) on a heavy track. Meanwhile, in Race 2 at Flemington, exclusively for Breeding&Racing’s Unibet clients, there’s a Runner Uplift on undefeated Lindsey Smith-trained Tuvalu (Kermadec). From an inside barrier he’s primed to get a free-rolling run up front and looks set to take advantage of a drop in weight.
