  • Foxy Frida Chasing Three-Peat

    Thursday, 15th July 2021

Tenacious in her last start victory over Divine Diosa (Teofilo) at Flemington, the Andrew Noblet-trained 3YO filly Foxy Frida (Foxwedge-Family Portrait, by Excellent Art) will be chasing three consecutive race wins when she steps up to the 1700m of the Ken Cox Handicap on Saturday. Passed in shy of her reserve when offered through the draft of Mill Park Stud at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, the talented filly is raced by her breeders in partnership, and anyone who turned their nose up at the $50,000 reserve would be pulling their hair out with the filly on the verge of taking her earnings past $200,000 if she finished in the top three come Saturday. With in-form apprentice Alana Kelly set to take the ride with her three-kilo claim – dropping Foxy Frida's weight down from topweight of 60 down to 57 – connections would be hoping the filly can continue on her winning ways. With five last start winners in the field of 15, many who are set to tackle the distance rise for the first time, one filly who will appreciate the trip is the Danny O'Brien-trained Vilanculos (Crowded House-Persinette, by Helenus), who has recorded two of her four placed efforts at 1800m and above, with connections thinking enough of her during the Spring to race her over the 2500m of the Gr1 VRC Oaks.
