Godolphin's Derby Winners on Track For More

Trainer Charlie Appleby faces a big month in July/August, beginning with Wednesday's meeting at Longchamp when recent Gr1 Irish Derby winner Hurricane Lane (Frankel-Gale Force, by Shirocco) will tackle the Gr1 Grand Prix de Paris, reports racingpost.com. "He bounced out of his Irish Derby victory in very good order and it's a long time to wait between now and his ultimate target of the St Leger," said Appleby. "He worked very well on Saturday morning, after which the decision was taken to supplement him for Longchamp. It is a chance to take on the 3YOs over a mile and a half again and looks a good opportunity to hopefully win another Gr1 with him." Appleby's Gr1 Epsom Derby winner Adayar (Frankel-Anna Salai, by Dubawi) will run in the Gr1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot on July 24. "Adayar just did some routine work on Saturday but has pleased us since Epsom and he's very much on course for Ascot. It will be fascinating to see how he gets on against the older horses but it's all systems go at the moment." Adayar is second favourite for the Group 1 at $3.50.
