  • Boldly Named Black Caviar Relative To Debut

    Wednesday, 14th July 2021

Today's meeting at Sandown will feature the debut run by Heir Apparent (Cable Bay-Brigite, by Casino Prince) in the Ladbrokes 2YO Handicap over 1000m, reports racing.com. Trained by Danny O'Brien, Heir Apparent is the first foal of unraced mare Brigite, who is a full-sister to Group 1 winner and exceptional stallion All Too Hard (Casino Prince-Helsinge, by Desert Sun), and also a half-sister to unbeaten champion Gr1 winner Black Caviar (Bel Esprit). He's therefore also closely related to dual Group 1 winner Ole Kirk (Written Tycoon) who debuts at Vinery Stud this year. "He's a horse we think highly of," O'Brien's assistant trainer Ben Gleeson said. "He's certainly shown us enough to think he'll be very competitive - we think he'll get out to a mile in time, but we think he's ready to go on Wednesday. Damian Lane, who has done a lot of work on him, is on holidays, but Damien Oliver did ride him in the most recent jumpout and thought the horse gave him a really nice feel." Sold by Gilgai Farm for $210,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Heir Apparent had a jumpout at Flemington at the start of the month finishing alongside subsequent debut winner Mynumerouno (Vancouver-Splash of Moet, by Dash for Cash) who also lines up in the same race tomorrow.
