  • Amarina Consolidates Elite Position

    Wednesday, 14th July 2021

Hunter Valley-based breeding and sales specialist property Amarina Farm added to its haul of black-type success over the weekend to consolidate itself in the Top 20 (out of 297) for the 2020-21 Black Type Vendor Premiership (headed by Arrowfield Stud). Excluding stud farms that stand stallions and are also vendors, Amarina is among the Top 10 ‘boutique’ vendors in a group that also includes Tyreel Stud, Bhima Thoroughbreds, Sledmere Stud, Mill Park Stud, Segenhoe Stud, Gilgai Farm and Cressfield. Now on 81 points, Amarina’s total was boosted by the success on Saturday of Bandersnatch (Casino Prince) at Randwick who made it a hat-trick of stakes wins in 2021. Amarina’s leading graduate this season is Gr1 Newmarket Handicap victor Zoutori (Zoustar). In a super-tight contest, he should by all accounts be crowned Sprinter of the Year at Flemington. Having also claimed the Gr2 Bobbie Lewis and Gr2 Gilgai Stakes down the famous straight six, Zoutori earned 33 Black Type Premiership points at Flemington. Only a point behind on 32 is gifted Exceed and Excel 3YO filly September Run. In addition to winning the Gr1 Black Caviar Lightning, her Flemington sprint performances included wins in the Listed Cap D’Antibes Stakes and Listed Poseiden Stakes, plus a sensational runner-up in the Gr1 Coolmore Stud Stakes against the crème of the male sprinters.
