  • Eaton Extends Lead With a Double

    Tuesday, 13th July 2021

Jockey Jessica Eaton now has a three-win buffer over rival Todd Pannell in the Adelaide Rider's Premiership after a double at Gawler on Saturday, reports racingsa.com.au. Eaton won the opening race with It's Kind of Magic (So You Think-Magically, by Danehill), before combining with 2YO colt Taunting (Brazen Beau-Probationary, by Northern Meteor) in Race 4 with an impressive front running performance. With three metropolitan meetings remaining in the South Australian season, Eaton's chances were bolstered by Todd Pannell going winless on Saturday. The win of Taunting also gave trainer Michael Hickmott a four-win buffer over Tony and Calvin McEvoy for the Trainers Premiership. Taunting ran second on debut and then won his next two starts, to bring his record to two wins from three starts. He was sold by Flinders Park Stud at the Inglis Melbourne Yearling Sale for $230,000.
