  • Run Fox Run Sibling Fancied for Debut

    Tuesday, 29th June 2021

Now over $600,000 clear of his nearest rival on the Australian General Sires table, Yulong’s 2021 recruit Written Tycoon (Iglesia-Party Miss, by Kenmare) appears likely to take the annual title. His efforts could be marginally augmented by debutant Victory Tears (Written Tycoon-Victory Cry, by General Nediym) at Ballarat this afternoon. Racing over 1200m on the synthetic surface, Victory Tears is a $900,000 Inglis Easter graduate after selling in 2019 from the draft of successful vendor Mill Park Stud to McEvoy Mitchell Racing and China Horse Club. The subject of solid backing which sees him challenging for race favouritism, Victory Tears is a half-brother to Run Fox Run (Foxwedge), winner of South Africa’s Gr1 Cape Flying Championship and also runner-up in the Gr1 South African Fillies Sprint. Their Northern Meteor half-brother Guard of Honour won the Listed Heritage Stakes at Randwick, also adding placings at Group 3 and Listed level. Second dam Classic Status (Marscay), who has produced two Group performers, is a half-sister to Gr1 Thousand Guineas heroine Serious Speed (Royal Academy). Dean Holland takes the ride for Tony and Calvin McEvoy in Race 2 at 1.30pm.
