  • Away Game Aimed at Breeders' Cup

    Tuesday, 29th June 2021

Brilliant 3YO filly Away Game (Snitzel-Elusive Wonder, by Elusive Quality) might be aimed at the Breeders' Cup meeting in November after her win in the Gr3 Healy Stakes over 1200m at Eagle Farm on Saturday, reports racing.com. "It's certainly a possibility," co-trainer David Eustace said. One of Away Game's owners, Hannah Mathiesen, in based in Kentucky. "Hannah mooted the idea to us at the start of the calendar year that if she came back in good form, it could be something to look at. They are all quite restricted races so there are several options that would be suitable for her." Options could include the $1 million Gr1 Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint (1000m), or two of the dirt sprints, the $1 million Gr1 Filly and Mare Sprint (1400m) and the $2 million Gr1 Breeders' Cup Sprint (1200m). Winner of the Magic Millions 2YO Classic, Away Game has won five of her 14 starts, including the Gr2 Percy Sykes Stakes and was also Group 1-placed in the Golden Slipper, with earnings over $3.2 million. She was a $425,000 yearling from the Mill Park Stud draft at the 2019 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, and she is a full-sister to Listed winner Modern Wonder.
