  • Carbery Tips Big Future for Sheza Chalmer

    Monday, 21st June 2021

Jockey Pat Carbery has told rwwa.com.au that if Sheza Chalmer (Vital Equine-Lady Chalmers, by Dante’s Fury) can be half as good as previous Belmont Guineas winners her future looks well assured. Prepared by his great friend Bernie Miller, Sheza Chalmer won the first leg of a feature race double in Perth with a strong finishing burst after being sent off a $3.50 second favourite. Coming with a barnstorming run after being eighth on the turn, the 3YO filly won comfortably by a length. It was the fourth victory for the daughter of Vital Equine (Danetime) who joins a strong list of former top liners including Group 1 champion Kay Cee (Playing God) on the Listed Belmont Guineas honour roll. “She has always shown that she is well above average,” Carbery said. “She is still immature, and the best is yet to come… “We’ll be pretty happy if she gets up to the likes of Kay Cee and Grand Nirvana (Scenic). Sheza Chalmer the jockey and Miller with their fifth black type race as a partnership. They combined with Aquinas (Blackfriars) in the Tatt’s Cup (2010) and Cup Night (Blackfriars) in the Raconteur Stakes (2020), the Scenic Blast Stakes (2020) and the Northam Stakes (2021). “Bernie is one of my best mates and they don’t make them better than him!” Carbery said of Miller who is planning to enter Sheza Chalmer in early July’s Belmont Oaks.
