  • Four Week Everest Lead In for Gytrash

    Friday, 18th June 2021

Following Friday’s fun-filled announcement – see below – by Inglis that it will again be represented by Gytrash (Lope de Vega-Miss Barley, by Fastnet Rock) in the $15 million The Everest, trainer Gordon Richards has outlined a more considered, less taxing campaign for his ultra-consistent sprinter as he builds towards the 1200m Randwick feature. According to racenet.com.au, Gytrash, who has only missed a first three placing twice from 24 starts in top class company, will have his final pre The Everest run in The Shorts, leaving last year’s third placegetter with four weeks between runs. Relieved to have had confirmation of what was “a gentleman’s agreement” after his bold 2020 showing in the world’s richest turf race, Richards commented, “By getting the deal done now, it gives us certainty because he’s in The Everest. We don’t have to showcase him in Sydney this year to show he is the real deal. Inglis’ managing director Mark Webster stated, “We really do believe there is unfinished business with Gytrash. This horse has remarkable ability…” Of the five horses confirmed for 2021’s The Everest so far, each is an Inglis graduate.
