  • MyRacehorse Launches in Australia

    Thursday, 17th June 2021

US-based micro-share racehorse ownership platform MyRacehorse launched yesterday in Australia, giving racing fans the chance to buy micro-shares in racehorses. These include a 2YO Fastnet Rock filly for $70 and a $1.2M Written Tycoon colt for as little as $220. MyRacehorse offers punters a one-off cost in elite bloodstock with no ongoing fees. Having experienced global success with champion US thoroughbred Authentic (Into Mischief) – raced in a partnership headed by Spendthrift – winning both the 2020 Kentucky Derby and Breeder's Cup Classic, expansion to Australia was a natural next step, according to MyRacehorse founder and CEO Michael Behrens. "The quality of horse racing in Australia is world class and we're excited to be launching MyRacehorse down under as we commence our global expansion," said Behrens. Through the creation of managed investment schemes, MyRacehorse democratises thoroughbred ownership in making up to 10,000 micro-shares available per racehorse, with each micro-share being to the value of 0.01 percent of the overall horse. MyRacehorse is partnering with some of Australia's leading trainers including Hawkes Racing, Mark Newnham, Tony and Calvin McEvoy and Bjorn Baker. In addition to the Bjorn Baker-trained Rock Chant, a 2YO daughter of champion sire Fastnet Rock, MyRacehorse is launching with Inclement, a 2YO filly by Frosted (Tapit) who is half-sister to multiple Group 1 winner Santa Ana Lane (Lope de Vega). Also available to purchase are a number of Magic Millions yearlings that include the $1.2M Written Tycoon x Taqaseem colt, and one of the last remaining Redoute's Choice colts – out of a Group 1 Australian Oaks-winning mare Once Were Wild (Johannesburg).
