  • Intrepidacious To Be Freedman's First

    Thursday, 17th June 2021

Recently returned Champion Trainer Lee Freedman, now based at the Gold Coast, will saddle up his first stakes starter since returning home from Singapore when recent stable acquisition Intrepidacious (Shooting To Win-Courageous Kitty, by Fastnet Rock) contests the Listed Gai Waterhouse Classic (1200m) at Ipswich's stand-alone meeting on Saturday. Sold at the recent Magic Millions National Broodmare sale to her trainer and Andrew Williams Bloodstock for $575,000, the 4yo now races in the yellow and lime silks of Grant Bloodstock. A winner of five races from 21 starts, Intrepidacious commenced her current campaign in Melbourne where she took the prize for jockey Laura Lafferty before finishing second in the Listed Bright Shadow Stakes at Doomben. Finishing only four lengths from Exhilarates (Snitzel) last time out when near the tail of the field in the Listed Coughlan Stakes, the talented mare will face an easier contest on Saturday at Ipswich, while still at Listed level, the quality of the field appears down in class on most recent run. With Craig Williams to have his first ride of the mare, the former John O'Shea trained runner is on the third line of betting behind race favourite Lillemor (Hallowed Crown-Polar Success, by Success Express), who is interestingly trained by O'Shea.
