  • MM National Broodmares Bring $100m

    Thursday, 27th May 2021

Three other mares sold at Wednesday’s session of the 2021 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale for $750,000 - Lady Sharapova (Fastnet Rock; to Bangaloe Stud) while Kia Ora Stud purchased both Moqueen (Uncle Mo) and Sweet Sister (Snitzel). With two days of the sale completed the sale gross has soared to over $98.5 million from 394 lots sold at an average price of over $250,000. The clearance rate sits at 88 per cent. The Written Tycoon Syndicate is the leading buyer at the sale to date with a spend of over $15.2 million on 36 lots. Rosemont Stud has secured 16 lots for over $10.5 million. "We set a huge benchmark yesterday but it was a good, solid day's trade with good momentum through the day and that flowed right to the last lot," Magic Millions Managing Director Barry Bowditch said. "To hold a $250,000 average and a clearance rate of 88 per cent and a gross ticking towards $100 million is sensational. I couldn't be happier. We have an exceptional lot of mares to go under the hammer on Day Three and I expect more strong bidding," Bowditch added. The final day of the 2021 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale will commence at 10am (Qld time) today (Thursday).
