  • Slot Holders Eying Boom O'Shea Galloper

    Monday, 17th May 2021

Australians are rightly proud of their sprinters, however kiwi-bred 4YO gelding Lost And Running (Per Incanto) is rapidly putting his hand up as a hard-to-ignore proposition for this year’s multi-million dollar The Everest (1200m). At Rosehill on Saturday, the ultra-talented rising sprint star oozed class when leading in an Inglis graduates’ First Four in the Listed Luskin Star Stakes. It was a sixth career win at just start number seven for the John O’Shea-trained star, who arguably should be undefeated, given his sole loss was a narrow second when unlucky three starts ago. A $40,000 Premier Yearling Sale buy for O’Shea from New Zealand nursery Blandford Lodge, Lost And Running defeated Classic Yearling Sale pair True Detective and Dealmaker today, with the Premier Sale’s Military Zone in fourth. Bred by part-owner Lib Petagna’s JML Bloodstock, who is also in the ownership of Saturday’s Inglis Guineas winner Midland, Lost And Running will now be spelled, with O’Shea hopeful an Everest slot holder will soon lock him in for the spring, where he hopes to contest the race at his third run back from a break. According to racenet.com.au, O’Shea, whose stable has been on fire through the autumn, revealed, “We had some lovely overtures before the race and I don’t think he’s disappointed anyone today. We will sit down and let the dust settle and see if they come back on Monday (today) and if they were suitably impressed by what they saw.” O’Shea said, “There might be an opportunity to stitch him up [lock in an Everest berth] and then we can all concentrate on the job at hand…”
