  • Spendthrift Standing Six Sires in 2021

    Thursday, 6th May 2021

In addition to new recruit Dirty Work (see above item), exceptional three-time Gr1-winning son of legendary War Front, Omaha Beach (USA), and dual Gr1-winning son of Curlin, Vino Rosso (USA) winner of the 2019 Breeders’ Cup Classic, will make their return to Victoria after covering full books in their first season. After great support from breeders in their first seasons, both Omaha Beach ($22,000 inc GST) and Vino Rosso ($13,750 inc GST) will cover restricted books of 100 mares in their second seasons, with the latter being added to the Breed Secure Program. Both imports have reportedly thrown exceptional foals in America, and their exciting first Australian crops are eagerly anticipated. Meanwhile, Overshare (I Am Invincible) enters his fourth year at stud after having his first yearling go through the ring this year, with the bay filly out of Spirited Away (USA) being sold for $180,000 to Hawkes Racing, 16 times his service fee, highlighting the exceptional types he is throwing. His fee of $11,000 including GST, remains unchanged for 2021 and is equal to what his sire I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit) stood for in his first four years. Gold Standard, the Gr2 Stan Fox Stakes-winning replica son of Sebring, also set a standard of gold class and quality with his first crop of yearlings this year who have found a home in some of the top stables in the country, including Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, McEvoy Mitchell Racing and Shane Nichols. He joins Overshare in his fourth year at stud and will stand for $5,500 including GST.  Swear has had a flying start to his stallion career with two winners from only three runners including the promising Faulds. These exciting early results have started the young stallion on the right note. A son of sire of sires, Redoute’s Choice, he remains in a position of affordability to breeders at a fee of $5,500 including GST.
