Saturday’s Gr1 Australasian Oaks winner Media Award (Shamus Award) – a $5,000 purchase from Bowness Stud – wasn’t the only Inglis Gold Yearling sale bargain buy to hit the limelight in Adelaide. Another bargain buy, when selling to the Alice Springs Turf Club from Ryan Arnel’s Stonehouse draft at the Inglis Melbourne VOBIS Gold Yearling Sale, Savatoxl’s amazing career continued in fine style at Morphettville, scoring a fifteenth victory at just his twenty-seventh start when winning the Gr3 DC McKay Stakes. It was a second stakes win from his past three starts for Savatoxl (Kuroshio), who has now won more than $450,000 in earnings. The Tony and Calvin McEvoy-trained gelding, bred by Mark and Sheryl Atkinson’s Carrington Park, will now be given his chance at an elusive Group 1 triumph in 15 May’s Goodwood Handicap at Morphettville where he will take on the likes of fellow Inglis graduates Gytrash (Lope de Vega), Behemoth (All Too Hard) and, potentially, Saturday’s Gr1 Robert Sangster victress Instant Celebrity (Not A Single Doubt).
