Celebrity Status on The Line in Sangster

Previously successful at Group 2 level, defeating eventual Gr1 Victorian Oaks winner Personal (Fastnet Rock) when racing second up last time in, the Philip Stokes-trained Instant Celebrity (Not A Single Doubt x Celebrity Girl, by Starcraft) finds herself second up this Saturday in the Gr1 Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m), one of only a handful of open age Group 1 races for fillies and mares. Somewhat unlucky when first-up this campaign when she finished fourth, beaten just over 2-lengths by Muntaseera (I Am Invincible) in the Listed Redelva Stakes, the one saving grace from that performance was that she was giving the winner 4kgsand on Saturday they will meet on equal weights of 55kgs. From barrier six, big race jockey Craig Williams should be able to have the filly handy, and with competition that includes the likes of elite class winners Lyre (Lonhro) and Flit (Medaglia d’Oro), and consistent Sisstar (Zoustar), it looks a very competitive, but winnable race for the Mill Park Stud-raised Instant Celebrity. From an impressive black type family, the 3YO filly is out of the dual Listed-winning Starcraft mare Celebrity Girl, herself a half-sister to this season Hong Kong Classic Cup winner Leviathan – Healthy Happy (Zoustar) and to the stakes-placed dam of Group 3 winner Generalife (Lonhro).
