  • Qld Winter Carnival Free To Air Coverage

    Monday, 26th April 2021

The TAB Queensland Winter Racing Carnival will return to free-to-air with the Seven Network poised to provide widespread coverage, reports racingqueensland.com.au. While the highly anticipated Winter Carnival is set to get underway at Eagle Farm next week, the Seven Network will commence its coverage with the Group 2 Hollindale Stakes at the Gold Coast on May 8. The following week, Seven and 7Plus will also broadcast the TAB Doomben 10,000 with Nature Strip and Eduardo set to resume their heavyweight clash. Queensland will then enjoy comprehensive coverage in the lead-up to and including TAB Stradbroke Day with full coverage of Doomben Cup Day; Moët & Chandon Derby Day; James Squire Oaks Day; and TAB Stradbroke Day. The time-honoured Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara is also expected to be covered in a coup for Queensland racing fans. The coverage will be run in conjunction with the very best thoroughbred racing from Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide over the next two months. Staged over 10 action-packed Saturdays, the Winter Carnival has received a prize money increase to $20.5 million – a $2 million uplift from its 2019 counterpart – and will feature 53 black-type races including eight Group 1s. Meetings will be hosted by the Brisbane Racing Club, along with the Gold Coast, Ipswich, Tattersalls and the Sunshine Coast from May 1 to July 3.
