  • Connections on A High After King Trial Win

    Wednesday, 21st April 2021

Owned by a large group which includes Newgate Bloodstock, China Horse Club, Go Bloodstock and Winstar Farm, 2YO colt King High (Not A Single Doubt-Cariad, by Sequalo) highlighted his class on Tuesday with an impressive 5-length barrier trial win over 1050m at Randwick with James McDonald in the saddle. A $280,000 Magic Millions National Weanling graduate when sold to Ampulla Lodge through the Aquis draft, the colt was then purchased at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale for $520,000. With four previous trial efforts under his belt, the colt improved with the step up in trip appearing to be the key to defeat stablemate California Vanes (Hinchinbrook) with ease. There was a further two-plus lengths back to third placed Avoidance (Snitzel). With plenty of stakes options open to the 2YOs throughout the rest of the season, especially in Queensland, connections will be looking to add some success to his record before turning three. A half-brother to stakes-placed Cardiff (Snitzel), and a full to the placed Sheer Treasure (Snitzel) who will sell at the upcoming Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale as Lot 573, they are all out of the dual Listed-winning Cariad (Sequalo) who will also be offered at the same sale, catalogued as Lot 1194.
