  • Featherweight to Back Up Into WA Sires

    Thursday, 15th April 2021

Trainer Dan Morton will back up promising 2YO gelding Featherweight (Snippetson-Prime Knockout, by Mossman) into this Saturday's Gr3 WA Sires' Produce Stakes, reports rwwa.com.au. Featherweight won the WATC Crown Perth 2YO Plate over 1100m on Saturday. "I thought his run last Saturday was really good," Morton said. "He looked beaten a couple of times, but he kept finding and fighting. That was his first run in three weeks and he was a bit above himself. He stuck to his guns really well and will strip fitter. I was disappointed he couldn't gain a start in the Karrakatta because I have a good opinion of him." Featherweight ran second on debut, then had two cracks at Listed level finishing fourth and fifth respectively, before his win last Saturday. Featherweight was purchased at the Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale from the draft of Scenic Lodge for $45,000, and is a half-brother to Listed winner Like a Butterfly (Blackfriars).
