Adding additional interest to an already intriguing contest, the likelihood of a small field for Saturday's Gr1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) could see the Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas-trained Dalasan (Dalakhani-Khandallah, by Kitten's Joy) back up after his excellent third placing last Saturday in the Gr1 Doncaster Mile. A previous winner of seven races, with a further seven placed performances from 24 starts, the Mill Park Stud-consigned Inglis Premier yearling sale graduate surpassed $2.5 million in earnings last Saturday, a considerable return on investment from his $80,000 yearling purchase. Dalasan will have to take on a select group of Group 1 winners highlighted by Verry Elleegant (Zed-Opulence, by Danroad) and Addeyebb (Pivotal-Bush Cat, by Kingmambo) who finished one-two in the Gr1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m) last time out, while fourth that day, Sir Dragonet (Camelot-Sparrow, by Oasis Dream) has since won the Gr1 Tancred Stakes (2400m). Dalasan's racetrack ability has seen the 4YO stallion prospect prove successful at stakes level from 1200m right through to 2035m, having also finished second at Group 1 level over 2500m. That should hold him in go stead should connections proceed and tackle the $4 million feature race on Day Two of The Championships.
