  • Valanetti Looks to Follow Family Path

    Thursday, 25th March 2021

Cambridge Stud's 3YO filly Valanetti (Sebring-Gallica, by Redoute's Choice) heads to Adelaide on Saturday to contest the Listed Clare Lindop Stakes (1600m) which is likely to be a steppingstone towards the Gr1 Australasian Oaks, the second of two Gr1 victories for Gallica (Redoute's Choice), the dam of this filly. Trained, just like her dam, by Mick Price Racing, the 2019 Magic Millions yearling sale graduate was a winner three starts back at Echuca, and while it is a long way in class from a maiden at Echuca to a stakes race, the filly has breeding on her side, and although she jumps from one of the outside barriers in the 15-horse field, she should acquit herself well. Race favourite is the Spring's Gr2 Wakeful Stakes winner Victoria Quay (Dundeel-Swan River, by Danehill Dancer) who disappointed last start on her return, while the Macdonald Gluyas stable will saddle up leading contender Another Award (Shamus Award-El Milagro, by Encosta de Lago), who finished just over a length ahead of race favourite Victoria Quay last time out. While Valanetti appears the leading chance for owner Cambridge Stud, they have a second representative in the shape of the well-bred maiden galloper Glitzy Girl (Medaglia d'Oro-Steps In Time, by Danehill Dancer), a $460,000 Inglis Easter yearling purchased raced in partnership with Qatar Racing, who has finished third at her last three starts.
