  • Colt on Song to Prove Group 1 Class

    Wednesday, 17th March 2021

Trainer John O'Shea believes 2YO colt Sing A Love Song (Your Song-Xaar's Jewel, by Xaar) will show enough in today's Ghaiyyath New To Darley Plate over 1400m at Kensington to earn his place in the Gr1 Sires' Produce, reports racingnsw.com.au. "His form is good and I think he's a horse, with his pedigree, [who] was always going to suit getting over a little bit further," said O'Shea about the colt who is still a maiden after four starts, however has placed in the Gr3 Canonbury Stakes, and ran fourth in his last start in the Gr2 Skyline Stakes. "If his form is good enough to get into those races he'll be competitive, they are going to change complexion dramatically over the next few weeks," O'Shea noted. "The top Slipper chances look to be genuine six-furlong horses. The Kensington track traditionally, when it's a bit wet, it's an advantage to be there. We'll have to take it as we find it but I'm not perplexed until I see otherwise." Sing A Love Song, a half-brother to Group 2 winners Ninth Legion (Fastnet Rock) and Tsaritsa (Dane Shadow) was sold at the 2020 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale by Edinglassie Thoroughbreds for $220,000 to Viribright Racing.
