  • Amarina Knocking on Elite Vendor Door

    Friday, 12th March 2021

Craig Anderson, principal of leading Hunter Valley property Amarina Farm, would have gone to bed a week ago more than pleased with the day’s racing results. The boutique property has always been a significant thoroughbred nursery boasting a plethora of high-class graduates, a status-quo added to by a stakes race double of note at Flemington’s Super Saturday meeting. First it was the turn of 5YO gelding Zoutori (Zoustar-Atotori, by Haradasun) who showed a sizzling turn of foot to defeat a cracking field in the Gr1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) down the famous straight six, followed soon after by the powerful finish of 3YO filly Starelle (More Than Ready-Star Of Giselle, by Reset) to claim the Gr2 Kewney Stakes (2000m). Zoutori was consigned by Amarina at the 2017 Inglis Easter Sale where he sold for $160,000, while fellow Amarina graduate Starelle was passed-in at the 2019 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale. The recent success by its graduates on the track has elevated Amarina up twelve places to near the Top 10 of the 2020-21 Black Type Premiership Vendor table. That bodes well for the vendor’s elite offering at the 2021 Inglis Easter Sale where it has consigned four colts – two each by So You Think (High Chaparral) and Savabeel (Zabeel), stallions whose progeny are currently in massive demand.
