  • Dam of World Champion Frankel Dies

    Wednesday, 10th March 2021

Juddmonte Farm announced that their super broodmare Kind (Danehill-Rainbow Lake, by Rainbow Quest) died on March 8 due to complications after foaling a colt by Kingman (Invincible Spirit-Zenda, by Zamindar) a few days prior, reports bloodhorse.com. Juddmonte's United Kingdom stud director Simon Mockridge said, "I cannot thank the Rossdales and Juddmonte team enough for the tireless care they have given Kind. To many she will rightfully always be best remembered as the dam of Frankel and Noble Mission, to us at Juddmonte she will always be Kind by name and Kind by nature." The 20YO broodmare was a good race mare, winning six races including two at stakes level, and was a half-sister to three other stakes winners including Gr1 winner Powerscourt (Sadler's Wells). Her first foal was group winner Bullet Train (Sadler's Wells), followed by dual Horse of the Year and emerging high quality sire Frankel (Galileo). Her third foal was triple Gr1 winner Noble Mission (Galileo), while her fourth foal, Morpheus (Oasis Dream) was also a winner. Kind's fifth foal was her first filly, and Joyeuse (Oasis Dream) emulated her dam by winning two Listed races, while Kind's sixth foal, Proconsul (Galileo) only had the two starts. Her seventh foal, Chiasma (Galileo) is an unraced 3YO in training with John Gosden, while her final foal is the 2021 Kingman colt. Kind has five stallion sons at stud – Frankel, Noble Mission, Bullet Train, Morpheus, and Proconsul. Her name has been added to the International Federation of Horseracing Authority's international list of protected names.
