Wild Ruler on The Prowl for His Group 1

A maiden Group 1 victory looks achievable for ascending 3YO colt Wild Ruler (Snitzel-Gypsy Robin, by Daaher) following another high class victory at Royal Randwick on Saturday. Crunched deep into the red in the 15 minutes before the start of the Listed Fireball Stakes (1100m), the ultra-consistent sprinter provided his Arrowfield Stud sire Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice with the opening leg of a stakes race double that was franked by 4YO mare Vulpine (Snitzel-Elusive Leone, by Elusive Quality later on the card in the Gr3 Wenona Girl (1200m). Only out of the frame once in 8 starts, the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Wild Ruler is already Group-1 placed after almost dead-heating with runner-up Swat’s That (Shamus Award) behind September Run (Redoute’s Choice) in the Gr1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington. Headed to the Gr1 Galaxy (1100m) in less than two weeks, Wild Ruler was purchased by China Horse Club, Newgate Farm and WinStar Farm for $525,000 from his breeder Kia Ora Stud at the 2019 Inglis Easter Sale.
