  • Sydney Likely Next Stop for Impecunious

    Tuesday, 2nd March 2021

Talented 3YO filly Impecunious (Sacred Falls-Sheezababe, by Zabeel) is likely to be given an additional week to get over her exertions following a luckless fourth in the Gr2 Angus Armanasco Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on February 20, with trainers Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young likely to look to Sydney with their Kiwi import. "At this stage she is going to go up to Sydney for the Phar Lap stakes (Gr2, 1500m) at Rosehill on March 13," Busuttin told SEN Track. "We've got her nominated for Saturday (Gr2 Kewney Stakes, 1600m) at Flemington but she got galloped on quite badly last start and has just had a very soft week." The co-traineradded, "We just felt the three weeks would be more beneficial and all going well she'll go to the Phar Lap then into the Vinery (Gr1, 2000m)." New Zealand owner Chris Griffin retains an interest in the daughter of Sacred Falls, who races in the colours of prominent Australian owner Ozzie Kheir. The 3YO filly was a strong winner at Caulfield in December but has not had the rub of the green since crossing the Tasman; Impecunious was late-scratched at her second Australian start after being kicked by a rival behind the barriers, before being galloped on when desperately unlucky last start.
