  • Coolmore Slipper Stocks Continue Climb

    Tuesday, 2nd March 2021

Quickly closing in on the upcoming Gr1 Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens, Coolmore Stud has added another string to its juvenile bow. Currently riding the crest of a stakes race wave, Coolmore saw its globally renowned silks carried to black-type victories in the Gr3 Autumn Classic by Parure (Fastnet Rock) and the Listed Tasmanian Oaks by Chequerboard (Fastnet Rock) just over a week ago. Perhaps more important though are the two juvenile Group wins that have come on back-to-back Saturdays. As impressive as Coolmore's Home Affairs (I Am Invincible) was when winning the Gr2 Silver Slipper Stakes at Rosehill Gardens 10 days ago, last Saturday's Coolmore part-owned Gr2 Skyline Stakes hero O'President (Fastnet Rock) also made plenty of punters sit up and take note. Agent James Bester paid $520,000 for O'President at last year's Virtual Easter Yearling Sale, where he was offered by his breeder Kia Ora Stud who have retained a percentage of the colt. "He and Acrobat (the Coolmore-raced RL Inglis Nursery winner) stood out to us at Easter as the two Fastnet Rocks that had the qualities to be speedy 2YOs and then later progress on from there at three," revealed Bester. Unfortunately, Acrobat has met with a setback but O'President has taken up the baton and we're very excited by that.'' Meanwhile, Kia Ora will offer O'President's I Am Invincible half-sister (ex O'Marilyn) as Lot 458 at April's Easter Sale at Riverside.
