  • Turk Continues to Perform Like a Warrior

    Tuesday, 23rd February 2021

Meanwhile, still in Launceston, on Sunday evening outstanding juvenile Turk Warrior (Outreach-Ehor, by Val de Royal) confirmed his status as the most exciting 2YO in Tasmania for many years with a stunning victory in the Magic Millions Tasmanian 2YO Classic (1200m) at Mowbray. The son of Outreach (Exceed and Excel) was sensational again, extending his unbeaten run to four with his runaway 3.5-length win. The hulking gelding was sent out a prohibitive $1.07 favourite on the strength of three easy wins – including a soft last start triumph in the Listed Gold Sovereign Stakes. Turk Warrior, a graduate of the McCulloch family's Grenville Stud, was originally passed in at last year's Tasmanian Yearling Sale, before being purchased by Sayit Basol and joining the Glenn Stevenson stable. The Wesley Vale trainer and rider Ismail Toker were not surprisingly all smiles after another brilliant win for Turk Warrior who looks set to head to the spelling paddock; while offers from Hong Kong swirl, connections are looking to features on the mainland for his next preparation. The win was a timely one for Grenville Stud who presented his half-brother by resident sire Zululand (Fastnet Rock) as Lot 106 at yesterday's 2021 Magic Millions Tasmanian Yearling Sale at Quercus Park. The colt was knocked down for $100,000 to Lindsay Park Bloodstock in Victoria.
