  • Impressive Debut Runners for Black Opal Preview

    Friday, 19th February 2021

Today's Black Opal Preview to be run over 1000m at the Canberra Racing Club track features a full field of fifteen runners including the debut outing for Bruckner (Snitzel-Jestajingle, by Lonhro) who is a three-quarter brother to group winner Jukebox (Snitzel-Jestatune, by Rory's Jester). Sold at the 2020 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale by Blue Gum Farm, Bruckner was purchased by Aquis Farm for $725,000. Also on debut is $500,000 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale graduate Queen of Dubai (Pride of Dubai-Jezzabba, by Fastnet Rock, who was sold by Segenhoe Stud to Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott. The trial winner is a full sister to Listed placed winning 3YO Dubai Star (Pride of Dubai) and their dam is a winning half sister to Gr2 winner and sire Von Costa De Hero (Encosta de Lago). Only five runners in the field have any raceday experience, including the three winners, Pretty Woman (Written Tycoon-Undoubted Pleasure, by Not a Single Doubt), Miss Ostend (Zoustar-Ningbo, by Star Witness), and Super Riff (Super One-Sweet Chimes, by Bel Esprit). The TAB has the early favourite as Team Hawkes trained Conglomerate (Written Tycoon-Tender Mercies, by More Than Ready) whose only start to date was a poor showing in the Listed Lonhro Plate in early February.
