It’s doubtful there’s been a jockey approaching a Golden Slipper crossroads for some time as perplexing as that faced by James McDonald. The kiwi-born rider has a surfeit of riches to contemplate as his preferred mount in the world’s richest 2YO race. Although Blue Diamond and Golden Slipper favourite Enthaar (Written Tycoon) as well as Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Shaquero (Shalaa) are considered the pick of his options, there is still a chance that another youngster from out of left field might prove equally compelling. They include Pierro Plate winner Stay Inside (Extreme Choice) and Wyong Magic Millions winner She’s All Class (I Am Invincible), giving McDonald the unique perspective of having ridden four of the top seven highest rated Slipper entries.
