The lure of both the rich Inglis Millennium 2YO purse and the opportunity to lock in a potential stallion prospect has seen Newgate Farm snap up majority ownership of promising juvenile Profiteer. A son of Newgate’s potential-laden young stallion Capitalist (Written Tycoon) – winner of the Magic Millions 2YO Classic and Golden Slipper double – well-named Profiteer is odds-on favourite to land what is now one of the big four juvenile 1200m features in Australia, the fourth being the Blue Diamond Stakes. According to punters.com.au, Newgate’s managing director Henry Field rationalised the purchase after form expert Daniel O’Sullivan rubber-stamped the colt’s high rating: “We have bought into Profiteer on a very similar deal structure to what we did when we purchased a stake in Extreme Choice prior to his Blue Diamond. We are currently in the process of syndicating Profiteer among many of the country's leading bloodstock investors with a small amount left to place which we will finalise early this week.” Trained by Mick Price and Michael Kent jnr, Profiteer won his only start (at Flemington) by 2.75-lengths. He is out of Group 3-placed Athena Lass from the family of Danglissa, dam of exciting young Kingstar Farm stallion Unite and Conquer.
