Well Pedigreed Beast on Debut At Caulfield

Attractively pedigreed Beast (Zoustar-Miss Lombardi, by Testa Rossa) will make his racetrack debut today in the MRC Neds Filter Form Maiden Plate over 1200m. Beast sold at the 2019 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the Widden Stud draft to Spendthrift Australia and is trained by Team Hawkes. The 3YO gelding is out of winning mare Miss Lombardi who is a daughter of Gr2 winner Fleur de Chine (Centaine), making Miss Lombardi a half-sister to Gr1 winner Tully Thunder (Thunder Gulch), herself the second dam of Gr1 winner Levendi. Beast has had three barrier trials to prepare for today and is currently priced at $8.50 for the win by the TAB. The favourite is Just Malcolm (Squamosa-Gold Plume, by Bon Hoffa) at $3.70 who has placed at both his starts to date, while fellow high priced yearling Glitzy Girl (Medaglia d'Oro-Steps in Time, by Danehill Dancer) is fourth in the betting at $5.50. Inglis Easter graduate Glitzy Girl is a daughter of Group 1 winner Steps in Time.
