$800k I Am Invincible Colt Kick-Starts MMGC Sale

Less than 10 lots into the 2021 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, during a period that saw a number of early pass-ins, the sales arena came alive when a colt by I Am Invincible entered the ring. Consigned by Attunga Stud, the in-demand youngster continued to pull bids from around the sales arena, finally falling to an $800,000 bid from bloodstock agent Guy Mulcaster, renowned as the original purchaser of champion Winx. The fluid walking yearling is out of Tapit mare Zighy Bay, a half-sister to Japan’s Gr1 Takamatsunomiya Kinen winner Mozu Superflare and also US Grade 3 winner Sacristy. More importantly, Zighy Bay is the dam of Gr1 South Australian Derby winner Qafila. Expected to be trained by Chris Waller, the colt shook the buying bench out of its torpid summer reverie, becoming the first big seller on what would become a record opening day at the Gold Coast (see below).
