McEvoy Commits to Classique Legend in Everest
Dual The Everest-winning rider Kerrin McEvoy (Redzel) has made an early commitment for this year’s The Everest, reports racenet.com.au, electing to continue his association with Classique Legend who he rode to victory in the gelding’s most recent start – the Listed June Stakes. Worth $15 million in 2020, The Everest only has two confirmed starters this year, one of which is the Bon Ho-owned, Les Bridge-trained Classique Legend who was sixth in last year’s renewal and is rated a $9 chance by markets. By Not A Single Doubt, the half-brother to high class Hong Kong sprinter Aethero was due to head to Hong Kong himself earlier this year, however COVID-19 horse movement restrictions precluded that from happening at the time, and it could prove a blessing in disguise for connections.
