2020 MM National Broodmare Average $140k

Thursday, 30th July 2020

Across the three day Book 1 component of the 2020 National Broodmare Sale over $55.3 million was traded on 394 lots sold at an average price of over $140,000. The clearance rate of 73 per cent was expected to improve overnight. Leading vendor on gross was Widden Stud with $5,625,500 realised on 20 lots sold, while Glenesk Thoroughbreds was the leading vendor on average (three or more sold) with a mark of $515,333. "It was great to get the people here so we could expose the sale all over the world and that is the Magic Millions mandate," Managing Director Barry Bowditch said. "That ensures that these elite mares get the attention they deserve and that was our primary motive going into the sale… It is a resilient industry, given the fact that racing has continued. The yearling sales were strong earlier in the year and the fundamentals in our country are very good.” Day 1 of the National Weanling Sale commences at 2pm this afternoon.
