Baffert Happy with Security's Maximum Effort
Leading US trainer Bob Baffert is happy with high Maximum Security has pulled up after his nose win in his race return in San Diego, California, reports bloodhorse.com. The exceptional racehorse, as often as not in the headlines for the wrong reasons, earned plenty of kudos for the fighting spirit he showed given he was, according to Baffert, only 80% fit. It was the first time Baffert saddled Maximum Security, now racing for his original owners Gary and Mary West, as well as Coolmore triumvirate Susan Magnier, Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith. After saying the son of New Years Day had pulled up "good", Bafferet commented, "It's a good starting point. We learned a lot about the horse. Now we're caught up and he's ready to go." Maximum Security is expected to line up next in the Gr1 Pacific Classic at Del Mar, however another option is to give him an extra two weeks between runs, and transfer him instead to the east coast's Gr1 Woodward Handicap at Saratoga.
