Bell Not on Edge Ahead of Bletchingly
Victorian trainer Mick Bell is putting the South Australian Stewards enquiry to the side as he prepares wet tracker Jungle Edge for Saturday's Gr3 Bletchingly Stakes at Caulfield. Bell believes that following retirement, the soon to be 10-year-old evergreen son of Dubawi is deserving of a place at Living Legends. Although an irregular swab hangs over his head, Jungle Edge has had a superb run of feature race success, winning the Listed W.J. Adams Stakes, Gr3 DC McKay Stakes and Gr3 John Monash Stakes (see below), with Bell puzzled by Jungle Edge's positive from the McKay Stakes at Morphettville, according to AAP. "He's been going to the track, but he hasn't been doing a lot and that's been the secret to his longevity," said his trainer. "I don't go out to make him run time as he could anytime he wants to, but the main thing is to keep him feeling as well as he can." Still hoping for an elusve The Everest call-up, Bell noted fondly, "He's a real character and that's why if he gets the chance to go to Living Legends they'll enjoy him as he loves attention and would like that kind of lifestyle."
