Tough Graduation for Debut Winner Flash Point

Thursday, 23rd July 2020

Rising 4YO mare Flash Point (Charm Spirit-Miss Pelear, by Mr. Nancho) will attempt to make it two from two today at Kembla Grange, reports racingnsw.com.au. "She is very quirky," trainer Clare Cunningham said. "She has taken a long time to even come close enough to be heading to the races. To start, she was difficult to ride in trackwork and she had no confidence but for some reason this preparation the penny has dropped with her. There is probably more to come but there was definitely a time when I thought we wouldn't get to the races with her." Flash Point won on debut over 1000m at Hawkesbury at the beginning of July and will run over the same distance again today where she will be ridden again by Jason Collett. "It is a very tough race so I suppose we are going to be getting a line on how good she actually is against those horses," Cunningham acknowledged. "It was a surprising win at Hawkesbury to be able to put it together first up for us. She has drawn a good gate there at Kembla now but I just think it is a very tough Class 1 so if we run in the money or top three, we would be very happy going forward."
