Magical vs Enable King George Contest Unlikely
Trainer Aidan O'Brien has told racingpost.com it is unlikely his star mare Magical (Galileo-Halfway to Heaven, by Pivotal) will tackle Enable (Nathaniel-Concentric, by Sadler's Wells) in the Gr1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Qipco Stakes, and will head instead to the Gr1 Tattersalls Gold Cup a day later. "It's possible Magical could wait for the Tattersalls Gold Cup on Sunday, but not definite. Everything is up in the air at the moment and we will make plans for everything on Wednesday, including what jockeys we might use at Ascot on Saturday. All the horses will do their last main piece of work on Wednesday morning," he said. The Tattersalls Gold Cup is notorious for its small fields, but 21 horses still remained at the five-day forfeit stage. Magical won the race last year by 7-lengths, beating four other runners. The daughter of Galileo has won ten of her twenty-two starts.
