Kisukano Needs To Prove Herself For Sydney

Thursday, 23rd July 2020

QTIS 2YO Jewel-winning boom 2YO Queensland filly Kisukano (Bel Esprit-Kiss for Gran, by Show a Heart) will be aimed at Sydney's Silver Shadow Stakes on August 22 if she goes well on Saturday at Doomben, reports racingqueensland.com.au. The filly has won four of her five starts, and was second in the other to Gr1 winner Rothfire who she beat in the Jewel. Kisukano has been given topweight of 63.5kg for the QTIS 2YO Fillies Handicap over 1200m, and will have the services of 3kg claiming apprentice Alex Patis on board. "She's got to beat these if she's to go to Sydney," trainer Michael Nolan revealed. "If she does, we'll take her down for the Silver Shadow Stakes." Kisukano has been ridden in all her starts to date by Mark Du Plessis, however, Nolan said, "It was a hard decision to break up a successful combination but we had no alternative with the weight she received. Alex has ridden for me before and she's moving up here to finish her apprenticeship, and she's seems to be switched on." A homebred filly, Kisukano is the first foal of unplaced mare Kiss for Gran, who is a half-sister to Listed winner Princess Margaret (Spectrum).
