O'Brien Throws Kitchen Sink at Enable

Wednesday, 22nd July 2020

Earlier this week the John Gosden stable was vocal in assuring Enable's army of supporters that the champion mare will strip a different racehorse next weekend to the one that capitulated against a resolute Ghaiyyath in the Gr1 Coral Eclipse. That is just as well, for the dual Arc heroine is about to find herself up against an armada of Ballydoyle contenders when she contests the Gr1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot. The UK's most prestigious weight-for-age race over a mile-and-a-half has also attracted six Aidan O'Brien entries, with just the two stables represented. Although Gosden might run entrant Fanny Logan, it appears that all of Magical, Japan, Magic Wand, Specialist, Anthony Van Dyck and Sir Dragonet are probable starters in what is an O'Brien vs Gosden crapshoot. Given her expected improvement, Enable is slightly odds-on to make it a hattrick of King Georges.
