First Real Steel Foals Bring Big Prices
Australian breeders who supported Real Steel (Deep Impact-Loves Only Me, by Storm Cat) last season would be delighted with the results of the Arrowfield Stud shuttler’s first foals at Japan’s prestigious July Sale this week. Having recently completed his second season at Shadai Stallion Station, Real Steel’s nine weanlings averaged $460,000. The four that fetched over $500,000 each were headed by Northern Farm’s She’s All Eltish colt who sold for the equivalent of $935,000. Group 1-placed four times (including runner-up as a 3YO in Japan’s 2,000 Guineas), Deep Impact sire-son Real Steel won the Gr1 Dubai Turf at Meydan (see below). He is a full-brother to 2019’s Gr1 Japanese Oaks heroine Loves Only You. Their dam is a granddaughter of multiple Group-1-winning Champion 2YO, 3YO and 4YO Hall of Fame inductee Miesque.
