Cayenne Pepper New Favourite For Irish Oaks
In European Group-1 news, Cayenne Pepper (Australia-Muwakaba, by Elusive Quality) is the 2-1 favourite for Saturday's Irish Oaks, now that Love (Galileo-Pikaboo, by Pivotal) and Fancy Blue (Deep Impact-Chenchikova, by Sadler's Wells) are out, reports racingpost.com. Jockey Shane Foley said, 'I've always loved Cayenne Pepper. I know I said last year I thought she might be the best of Jessie's juvenile fillies and I hope I'm right. We'll find out on Saturday! She went for a breeze at the Curragh the other morning and I was really pleased with her. She has definitely improved since her comeback in the Pretty Polly." If she wins, Cayenne Pepper will provide trainer Jessica Harrington with a ninth flat Gr1 victory. 'You would have to be delighted with the way she kept going and I think the Oaks trip will suit her. She goes on any ground, she's very straightfoward and it's all systems go..." Cayenne Pepper won her first three races in succession as a 2YO then was fourth in the Gr1 Newmarket Fillies' Mile. In her only race at three so far, she ran second in the Gr1 Pretty Polly Stakes at the end of June 2020. Love will head to the Yorkshire Oaks, while French Oaks winner Fancy Blue will run in the Nassau Stakes.
