Star Perth Mare's VIC Plans Unresolved

Tuesday, 14th July 2020

One of Western Australia’s leading hopes to potentially compete at Melbourne’s Spring Carnival may be grounded in Perth. According to rwwa.com.au, exciting sprinter Fabergino’s quest for a Group 1 campaign in Melbourne remains uncertain with trainer Tiarnna Robertson still uncertain which path to take for the spring. Already proven in Melbourne, giant mare Fabergino provided Roberston one of her greatest thrills in racing when she brilliantly won the Listed Bob Hoysted Stakes (1000m) at Flemington in February. Already boasting a major Victorian race from one Mebourne start, Robertson and Fabergino are scheduled to go to back and venture across the Nullarbor for a second time to target the Gr1 Moir Stakes at Moonee Valley in September. Victoria’s surging second wave of COVID-19 an allied uncertainty over suitable flight arrangements, means that Robertson’s Group 1 ambitions with her star 5YO have hit a hurdle, with the trainer telling TABradio, “I don’t have the answers right now, but she is all dressed up with nowhere to go at the moment… She won’t float over. If we had known that this was going to eventuate we could have floated her while she was spelling [for 5 weeks].” Plan B is to stay home and target the Gr1 Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) at Ascot instead.
