Harlech Arrives in Moroney Stable

Tuesday, 14th July 2020

New Zealand- bred group winner Harlech (Darci Brahma-Obsession, by Bachelor Duke) has arrived in the Mike Moroney stable at Flemington with spring carnival aims, reports racingnews.co.nz. Harlech completed a month’s work in New Zealand before flying to Melbourne. “He looked as if he was one of the better 3YOs in New Zealand during the spring and the summer,” Moroney said. “Being a 4YO, obviously the Golden Eagle would be nice if we could get up there (to Sydney) for it. And down here it would be races like the Toorak Handicap and the big mile at Flemington that would be options.” Harlech has won two of his nine starts, including the Gr1 James & Annie Sarten Memorial Stakes in October 2019, and ran second in the Gr1 New Zealand Two Thousand Guineas behind star galloper Catalyst (Darci Brahma-Evana, by Entrepreneur), as well as running second to Travelling Light (El Roca-Cissy Bowen, by Colombia) in the Gr1 Levin Classic. Harlech was sold by The Oaks Stud at the New Zealand Bloodstock Yearling Sale for $100,000.
