Love Destroys Her Oaks Rivals

Monday, 6th July 2020

At Epsom in England, champion sire Galileo (Sadler's Wells-Urban Sea, by Miswaki) wrote yet another thrilling chapter in his history when 3YO daughter Love (Galileo-Pikaboo, by Pivotal) pillaged and plundered the Gr1 Investec Oaks (12 furlongs) by a widening 9-lengths under Ryan Moore. Allowed to drop back and drop her head back in the field which was carted along by runaway leaders. More than doubling her 4-length winning margin in the 1,000 Guineas, it wasn't just the margin over Galileo stablemate Ennistymon and Frankly Darling (Frankel) that stood out, it was her crushing speed at the end of the Classic mile-and-a-half contest. Love's unplaced Pivotal dam Pikaboo has more than made up for a lack of ability on the track, producing four individual Group winners, including another two full-sisters to Love. Conceding that the Irish Oaks could be next, followed by a possible tilt at October's Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe where 3YO fillies have a strong record, trainer Aidan O'Brien said,  "It is very hard to say you would ever have a better filly than her – we saw what she did in the [1,000] Guineas."
